Building History:
The building of the hotel is part of the area of the convent, initially belonging to the Jesuit Order; then, from 1772, to the Order of the Grey Sisters of St. Francis. The congregation of the Grey Sisters occupied the premises of the convent up to 1949, when unlawfully forced out by the communist regime. The convent, along with the church of St. Bartholomew, was utilized by the Internal Affairs Department for the purposes of interrogation, torture and imprisonment, as well as serving as offices for the secret police. The House of Prayer changed into a house of horror.

As a result of the events launched on November 17, 1989, which overthrew the period of communist rule, the estate of the Grey Sisters was finally returned to the Order in 1990 after a gap of 40 years. In the course of 1991-1994, general reconstruction works were launched with the support of the company of Unitas. Two buildings belonging to the complex were transformed into hotels - the Cloister Inn on one side and the Unitas Pension which is situated next to the church of St. Bartholomew. In the basement of Unitas Pension there are still cells where the Czech president Vaclav Havel was once imprisoned in the so-called "Pink Prison".
